About Me

Dr Karen Osborne is a female general practitioner with a special interest and extensive experience in Reproductive & Sexual Health.

Karen qualified as a doctor from the University of London in 2000 and  pursued General Practice training with a side-line in working in Family Planning Clinics in the UK before emigrating to Sydney, Australia in 2011.


She holds diplomas in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Reproductive & Sexual Health as well as fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Family Planning

She has worked in Reproductive & Sexual Health (Family Planning) clinics for nearly 20 Years, initially in the UK and then Australia. When working for Family Planning NSW she was a clinical lecturer, medical educator and examiner for the National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health. She now prefers to focus on clinical care but still acts as a supervisor for GP registrars and medical students as well as a mentor for colleagues. 

Special Interests

  • Dr Osborne has a special interest in perimenopause and menopause care and is proactive in prescribing menopausal hormonal therapy for symptom alleviation and preventative care.
  • She particularly enjoys pregnancy planning, pre-conception & fertility and works collaboratively with several major Sydney hospitals to deliver GP Antenatal Shared Care
  • She is an experienced IUD (intrauterine contraceptive device) inserter and remover including difficult cases and removing threadless IUDs 
  • As a former Implanon trainer she is skilled in Implanon insertion and removal (including removal of Jadelle implants).
  • Accredited S100 HIV, Hep B and PrEP prescriber

  • ASHM S100 HIV Prescriber 
  • ASHM S100 Hepatitis B Prescriber
